SSKC Race School and other Training Opportunities

2011 Race School

Schedule for Sunday - May 1st.

Starts @ 9:30am until late afternoon

SSKC Annual Race School

Each year the SSKC runs its annual race school for new drivers.  This race school is a requirement for all new drivers and is the primary way that you will be able to obtain our clubl level karting drivers license.

The course is typically 2-2 ½ hours of classroom time covering basic rules of racing, flags that control the race event and basic driving instrutinos.  This classromm time is followed by a complete walk around the track where you will learn the basic "racing line", how to enter and exit turns and all the control points on the track such as the start / finish line, starting grid, ot grid and where you exit the track as the race is completed.  In the event of poor weather conditions, the course will be adapted to cover as much as possible with some follow-up before or at the first race day.

There is no charge for the classromm training session and the walk around the track.  You should have a pen and pencil as well as a note book for the classroom part of the session.  Everyone is welcome, so please feel free to invite others who may be interested in karting. If you don’t have your kart ready, you still should plan on doing the school, as there may be a charge if you require individual sessions after the race school.   In order to take any of the  on-track driving training, you must be a paid up member of the SSKC.  We will have membership forms and info available at the school.

The training takes place at the 3 Flags Motorsport track in club room / consession area.  The track is located ~20 kilometers or (~12 miles) Northwest from Regina on Highway #11.  Watch for Exit “C” just before the Qu’Appelle Valley and Town of Lumsden.  Take Exit “C” from the right hand lane and follow the road until the stop sign.  Turn left  and proceed under the highway overpass.  The track is located on the south side of the overpass a short distance down the road.  You can see the track facilities as you move under the underpass.

For the first on-track driving element, the session will typically be all the drivers with follow up sessions having the Seniors and Juniors going out as separate groups.  Safety gear as is a requirement for all drivers
