South Sask Kart Club Classes (2011)
 including updated supplemental rules


Novice - Briggs

  • Ages 8-11 (can be 7 as long as turns 8 by Sept. 1st of racing year)
  • Briggs 4 cycle LO206 Spec engine, 4100 rpm rev limiter and spec throttle stop as per ASN
  • 235lbs
  • Cadet or full size chassis allowed
  • Tires are 4.5x5x10 front and rear
  • Regular  Esso pump gasoline
125cc TAG Junior - ROK/Rotax

  • 13 to 16 years of age inclusive. 
    Drivers 12 year of age may enter based on ability (have competed
    in at least 1 full season in Jr. 1), but should he or she win they will not be eligible to represent Canada in the International ROK Cup unless 13 years of age by Dec 31, 2011. 
  • 125cc ROK engine, as per ROK Cup Canada rules, with junior
    tuned pipe or 125cc Rotax Max as per RMC rules. 
  • No front brakes. 
  • Minimum weight 310 lbs. for ROK and 320lbs for Rotax
    (kart & driver suited up)
  • Max 4 sets of tires for club races
    (regardless if you switch engine type in the race year)
     - MG yellow tires for ROK
     - MOJO D2 tires for Rotax
  • Esso Premium pump gas (from the gas station on
    9th Ave N and Albert Street) mixed with XPS kart oil
      ROK - mixed at 3% (~30:1)
      Rotax - mixed at 2% (~50:1)
Junior 1 - Briggs/Honda

  • For drivers 10 to 13 years of age. 
  • Honda 4 cycle GX 160 K1 with a .500 restrictor plate as per
    ASN or Briggs 4 cycle LO206 spec motor, 6100 rpm and spec throttle stop as per ASN. 
  • Chassis minimum wheel base 101cm (1010mm)
  • "Manufactured" race slick, 4.5x5x10, rear 6.0x5x11 (Note when travelling to outside clubs, some have spec tires and others are running open compound)
  • Minimum weight 275 lbs. (kart & driver suited up)
  • Regular  Esso pump gasoline

125cc TAG Senior - ROK/Rotax


  • For drivers 16 years of age or older. 
    Drivers 15 years of age with international license or local license may compete.
  • 125cc ROK engine with full tuned pipe or Rotax 125 Max as specified for each engine manufacturer.  Tech for ROK engine is as per FIA/CIK ROK rulebook or Rotax 125 Max as specified by each engine manufacturer.  
  • Front brakes allowed. 
  • Minimum weight is 355 lbs. for ROK and 365lbs. for Rotax (kart & driver suited up)
  • Max 4 sets of tires for club races
    (regardless if you switch engine type in the race year)
     - MG yellow tires for ROK
     - MOJO D2 tires for Rotax

125cc TAG Masters/Heavy - ROK/Rotax


  • For drivers 35 years of age or older.
    Drivers aged 16 years or more that make 395 lbs without adding weight (at end of race) may compete in this class. 
  • 125cc ROK engine with full tuned pipe or Rotax 125 Max as specified for each engine manufacturer.
  • Front brakes are allowed. 
  • Minimum weight is 395 lbs. for either ROK or Rotax (kart & driver suited up)   
  • Max 4 sets of tires for club races
    (regardless if you switch engine type in the race year)
     - MG yellow tires for ROK
     - MOJO D2 tires for Rotax
  • Esso Premium pump gas (from the gas station on
    9th Ave N and Albert Street) mixed with XPS kart oil

Notes: 

  • Only Karting approved chassis from registered manufactures will be allowed too compete.
  • New style plastic rear bumper or approved replacement required to practice or compete.
  • For club racing only, any manufactures “production built” rain tire will be allowed
  • In order to secure regional sponsorship of club sanctioned events all tires must be acquired from our regional
    supplier via our local dealer, K&M Motorsports.  Tires will be bar coded to more effectively move through the tech
    process on race days.

Recommended but NOT required:
A chain guard where the guard covers the sides and top of the chain and must be long enough to cover the clutch drive gear.  Although recommended by ASN it is currently not a requirement.

Junior 1, Non-Competition

  • Ages 6-7
  • Honda GX 160 K1 4-cycle engine
  • ASN Restrictor plate mandatory
  • Regular pump gasoline
  • BS YHC or new BS equivalent designation tires
  • Cadet karts with 850-950mm wheel bases excepted

    Same as Junior 1 only do not race wheel to wheel
    Staggered start
    No points, test and practice only
Junior ROK

  • Ages 12 to 16
    - Must have achieved your 12 birthday before being allowed to compete plus have competed in one full season in Junior 1 or ROK Novice class
    - In National ROK Series, must be 13 in competition year in order receive driver award
  • 125cc ROK engine as per ROK Cup Canada rules
  • Junior 2 spec pipe must be in place at all times
  • Premium pump gas mixed at 3% (~30:1) with Motul GP kart oil
  • Vega Blue tires only
  • 310 lbs kart and driver minimum

Junior 1

  • Ages 8 to 12
    - Note: drivers who are under the age of 8 years may start racing in this class with the approval of the SSKC executive and at the request of the parents of the child. The driver must show they are competent in the seat and must pass an extra test on racing.

Junior ROK Novice

  • Ages 10-13
    10 and 11 year olds must compete in at least one year Junior 1 Honda
  • 125cc ROK motor with junior spec pipe
  • 15mm intake restrictor plate mandatory
  • Vega Blue tires
  • Chassis must have 1010mm minimum wheel base
  • NO Cadet karts
  • Premium pump gas mixed at 3% (~30:1) with Motul GP kart oil
125cc ROK Masters/Heavy

  • For drivers 35 years of age or older. 
    Drivers aged 25 and up may compete if kart driver combination
    meet weight rule with no weight added
  • 125cc ROK motor as per ROK cup Canada rules
  • Premium pump gas mixed at 3% (~30:1) with Motul GP kart oil
  • Vega blue tires
     maximum 3 sets for the season as teched by K & M Motorsports
  • 385 lbs kart and driver minimum


Note:     CIK homologated chassis are required in all instances.
               New style plastic rear bumper or approved replacement required to practice or compete.

South Sask Kart Club Classes (2009)


Junior 1 Honda

  • ages 8-11
  • Honda GX160K1 - 225 lbs.
  • regular pump gasoline
  • ASN Junior 1 restrictor
  • Bridgestone YHC spec tire
  • engine spec/ box stock with stock air cleaner, stock exhaust, no machining to block or head, no timing changes.
  • This is a non-racing class/Maximum 3 kart's on track, passing only on straightaway
  • Underage Drivers: drivers who are under the age of 8 years may start driving in this class during test and practice sessions and must be at least 6 years of age. Not able to race until achieve age 8
  • Overage Drivers: up to age 13 may compete in class if this is their first season of competition.
     

ROK National 

  • 16 years of age and up
  • 125cc ROK motor as per ROK Cup National rules
  • 365 lbs/ Masters 385lbs. If entry warrants, class may be split for racing purposes
  • Vega Blue tire only, one set per race day includes qualifying and will be teched at that time
  • VP race fuel mixed with Burris or Maxima
  • Open to all homologated chassis
  • 385 lbs, no weight will be allowed to be added to the kart
  • 40 years and older are allowed to add weight
  • VP MS98 spec race fuel (pump gas will be allowed)

Junior 2 ROK

  • Ages 12 to 15 (Must be at least 12 years of age before July 1 of competition year)
  • As per ROK rules as specified in the ROK Canada rule book
    • Rotax will be allowed to run at “club races” only and must meet rules as per Rotax Max rules
  • 125cc ROK engine as per ROK Cup Canada rules
  • VP race fuel mixed with Burris, or Maxima 797/ for club events Premium pump gas is allowed
  • Vega Blue tires only
  • Junior 2 spec pipe must be in place at all times

ROK Senior

  • 15 year olds may opted up but must have at least 1 full season of competition at the Junior 2 class level and must be accepted by club executive or head driving evaluator
  • 125cc ROK motor as per ROK cup Canada rules
  • “SPEC pipe” mandatory
  • “SPEC chassis” rule in place
  • 350lbs kart and driver
      ** Drivers that exceed 395lbs with no weight added to kart
          or driver may use National pipe
  • Vega blue tires, maximum 3 sets as teched by K & M Motorsports for season
  • Premium pump gas mixed 30:1 with Burris racing castor or Maxima 797
  • VP race gas spec (pump gas will be allowed)
  • Burris, Maxima 797 or Elf oil
