SSKC Race Results
    (Race 17 & 18)

The last race day of the year dawned clear and warm.  Another day that was nicer than most of the summer race season.  This late date was our make up race day for the rained out May 29th race day and turn out was average to good, including some spectators.  We ran the classes in the same configuration as the last few races.  We had 3 heats for the Junior 1 Honda class, two heats for the Junior ROK racers and a two heats with a combined ROK Pro and Masters class.

We decided to try marking the start of racing line for our rolling starts.  It was marked just after the turn to the start/finish line and provided a consistent point on the track for the grid to stay lined up and for our starter to evaluate the race readiness of the grid.  Also kept the eager beavers from hitting it a bit to soon as we come around the turn.  Apparently this is a common thing in Europe.  We will likely see more of this in next years racing season.

Thomas R moved up from ROK Jr into the combined pro / masters class this race.  He seemed to make the adjustment to the new racers and turned some pretty good lap times and seemed to settle right in with the grid.

Practice sessions went well although the track was dusty and the cooler temperatures required a few laps to get the tires up to temperatures.  Once again folks were talking about their fastest laps of the year so things looked pretty good for the races ahead.

The first set of races ran mostly clean with a couple of minor incidents in the ROK Jr class, although one of them knocked Garret out of the first heat.  The second set saw a little bump and grind in the ROK Jr again and the combined pro and masters class a bit of bumping.  A more serious red flag incident occurred when Sam went off the track, through the tires and had his kart flip after being distracted by a bump in the backfield.  That brought out the red flag and the race was suspended until things were evaluated.  Thankfully Sam was OK and he even joined the resumption of the race after getting his kart back on the track and running again.  With 11 laps to go, the race continued and at the last lap Christina and Kevin had a run in that shook them both up a bit, but they managed to finish the race with some kart rash, a sore shoulder and a bumped nose.  Nothing serious, but I'm sure they will all be a little stiff the day after the race.

Once the racing wrapped up, a couple of interested folks who knew some of the racers were still brave enough to take a test drive.  Hopefully they are future racers.

Results will be up on MyLaps shortly so you can see the details from the various grids.  We will get the race results pages updated in the coming days so you can see the positions of each racer.

Race results are uploaded to the  MyLaps site.  Look for SSKC in the list of organizations.
